Ghosted (Grades 9 to 12)
Themes: Social Emotional Health, Anxiety, Depression, Suicide Prevention, and Resilience
Audience: Grades 9 to 12
Ghosted is available to schools and communities free of charge.
Through the course of the virtual program, students learn to
- Combat stigma by understanding that mental health conditions are common
- Develop skills to talk about stress, anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention
- Identify healthy coping strategies to build resilience
- Access community resources for help when going through difficult or stressful situations
Socializing with peers is one of the hallmarks of a teen’s mental development – time with friends is more important to them now than ever. Social isolation at this developmental stage can trigger or amplify mental health challenges, and prevent a teen from seeking help. Modeling and facilitating conversations about mental health and accessing resources is an important part of supporting their emotional development.
Ghosted tells the story of four students as they navigate and face mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and anger while seeking the virtual support of their school counselor. Through storytelling, community-building, and resilience activities, students learn that getting help for mental health challenges is normal and healthy.
Following each video presentation, the actor-educators lead students through interactive workshops designed to de-stigmatize talking about and seeking help for mental health concerns.
